Those pages still refer to Windsurf plans and account management. Confirm your installed version, plan and migration notices before applying a setup or pricing guide.
This replaces our earlier unsupported performance and zero-cost recommendations. AIHackers has not run a controlled Windsurf-versus-Cursor benchmark or reconciled account billing for this guide.
What Cascade does
The current Cascade documentation describes an agent with code and chat modes, tool access and checkpoints. It also describes Cascade alongside Devin Local. These are vendor-documented capabilities, not proof that a task will finish correctly or faster than another editor.
For a first evaluation, use a small repository and a reversible task: explain a module, propose a change, then inspect the diff and run the project’s tests. Review terminal actions and added dependencies. Keep credentials and unrelated files outside the test workspace.
Which billing system are you using?
The usage guide distinguishes self-serve plans, enterprise ACUs and legacy enterprise credits. The quota guide documents daily and weekly allowances for the self-serve system and separate paid extra usage. Do not carry old prompt-credit arithmetic into a quota account.

Check the account’s plan page and current offer before purchasing. This guide makes no universal dollar-price, unlimited-use, or “free forever” claim. Separate the subscription, included allowance and extra usage when recording costs.
Data and ownership checks
Use the Windsurf terms and data-handling hub to identify the applicable agreement, training setting, retention exceptions and evidence to request. A paid plan alone does not establish every privacy control, and a familiar product name does not identify the contract for an older account.
The acquisition analysis is historical context. Its roadmap predictions are not a current product guarantee.
How to decide
Compare your actual task, review effort and bill with your existing workflow. Record the version, model, acceptance criteria, failures and corrections. Keep the project in ordinary version control so the work can move between editors.
